our history

As part of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Westminster Preschool has been welcoming students for over 60 years. In the early 1990’s, Westminster Preschool adopted the developmentally appropriate philosophy and practices of the National Association for the Education for the Young Child.

Westminster Preschool has been a member of the Association of Christian Schools International since 2009. Standards of the Association of Christian Schools International are similar to, but also include a spiritual component missing from the NAEYC standards. Through ACSI, Westminster Preschool has completed a lengthy self-study and peer review of all facets of its’ program, including philosophy, administration, personnel, instructional, crisis planning, facilities, community relations, and spiritual development, as well as continuous school improvement.

Today Westminster Preschool welcomes children as young as under two years of age and walking, through five years of age, and offers a variety of programs including two, three and five half day placements. Bus service is also available. Special visitors and field trips make the Westminster Preschool experience especially exciting for preschoolers. These students got to touch a race car and talk to the driver. Others plucked a harp and listened to the sound.
